Seattle Times top 10 bands to see at Upstream Music Festival

"do try to see En Canto (9:15 p.m. Saturday, 88 Keys), Seattle’s Brazilian group that specializes in the rhythmically galloping traditions called forró and choro, with compelling vocalist Adriana Giordano out front and accordion and flute percolating below."

                                                           -Seattle Times

"En Canto not only provides fun, engaging music, full of heart and energy, but are an absolute delight to work with. They struck just the right tone and energy for our 1,200 person gala, and we can't wait to work with them again!"
Rebecca Neff Brown - Northwest Immigrant Rights Project

"En Canto joins world and pop music together with a samba flare using woodwinds, percussion, and an accordion. This female-led seven-piece fills a room with sparkle and grace, combining all inspirations to create an energetic and eclectic sound. The celebration of Brazilian music will surely keep everyone on their feet, moving and grooving all down the streets of Seattle."
Priscilla Gamit - KXSU's Seattle University Radio

"En Canto formed three years ago and has become a familiar fixture at Columbia City's Royal Room, Capital Cider and at festivals such as Northwest Folklife. The septet specializes in forro, from Brazil's Northeast, a music that features accordion and flute and has a kind of honky-tonk bounce."

En Canto packs The Royal Room to capacity for every show, bringing in people from all corners of Seattle. Their Brazilian rhythms and palpable enthusiasm get people moving even in their chairs, raising their glasses, and dancing. En Canto turns strangers into friends, creating a spontaneous community with one thing in common: they just want to have a good time!

En Canto is one of those bands that manages to balance an exciting high-energy dance feel with that sweet and relaxed groove that is so beautiful in Brazilian music.  Their performances are delightful for either dancing or listening!
Kelli Faryar
Programs Manager, Northwest Folklife

En Canto is a band with incredible energy and the ability to play the many styles of music (forró, baião, choro, samba),  from Brazil. Whether you're familiar with Brazilian music or hearing it for the first time, you'll be drawn in all the same. When they perform, there is a sense of excitement in the air and intense camaraderie. Invariably, you'll find yourself getting swept away in the band's joyful enthusiasm, and, before you know it, dancing to those infectious rhythms until the very last note. They will captivate you!
